Day 5 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge with Leslie Saeta.
This is a painting of a little cottage that I came across in Berrima, NSW.
Berrima is just of the Hume Highway on the way to Sydney and is near the Southern Highlands area.
My sister and her husband moved up there some time ago and started a business and soon a family. It wasn’t long after that my parents followed. Naturally they wanted to be with their grand children when they grew up.
So a couple of times a year we would head up the Hume Highway to Bowral for Christmas and other family gatherings. Always enjoyed visiting Bowral and the Southern Highlands region.
One of my wife and I’s favourite things to do when up that way was to visit the town of Berrima for afternoon cuppa. In the main street I came across this white cottage and snapped a photo one time. I always intended to paint the cottage at some stage.
So when Leslie Saeta launched this 30 in 30 painting challenge and I decided my theme would be ‘At Home In Australia’ I just knew I had to paint the Berrima Cottage.
I have used a bit of artistic license with it to depict what life was like in Australia in years gone by.
